More than 50,000 fires are caused by fireworks every year, ADT reports. Here are some important tips to remember. 

• Creating your own fireworks is a big no no. Never attempt to create or disassemble your own.
• Ensure sparklers are pointed away from faces while being lit or used.
• Make sure fireworks are being used on a nonflammable surface. Always make sure they are completely put out before disposing.
• Don’t attempt to light multiple devices at the same time.
• Always keep fireworks away from small children.
• It’s a good idea to keep a portable fire extinguisher close by. Also keep a water hose or buckets of water nearby to put out any accidental fires.
• If fireworks malfunction, don’t relight them! Douse and soak them with water then throw them away.
• Do not bring pets to a firework show. They safest place for them to stay is home where it is familiar and safe.
